## A Project on: Converting Fractions, Decimals & Percents

__Background:__At this point, you have worked on reducing fractions as well as converting them to decimals. You also know how to change a fraction to a decimal. Recently you reviewed changing percents back to decimals. So by now, you should be able to convert any one of these (fractions, decimals, percents)! For this project, you and your team/group will create a short instructional video that will show how to do these conversions.

__Specifics:__

1. Form your group of from 2-4 people (note larger groups require near equal involvement from all members.

2. Together (using 1 computer) brainstorm the different type of conversions you'll teach/show.

Think of a story line for your instruction--- no puppets this time :-)

REMEMBER: Educational is GOOD-- but INTERESTING Educational is BETTER! :-)

Bring your idea to Mr. K for approval.

Camera work may be done by your own group members or from another group. Limit of 2 cameras.

3. Come up with the problem you'll use for each of your conversion examples

NOTE: Often it is a good idea to teach a concept with the simplest problem possible AND THEN

show the same concept with a more challenging problem.

4. Create a script -- including specific camera angles and places where math can be shown with graphics

6. Record the work done by each group-member, because your grade will be based upon the work each person

puts into this. Mr. K will have more details.

7. Rehearse until it's ready---------- Video-------- Upload---------- Edit

8. Will count for 2 test grades.

9. Note: Time is a factor, in the event a student is completing work and falls a bit behind-- they may not get to do

this activity and it will not hurt their grade.
